Nverse Terra is an Autodesk VIZ® and 3ds Max™ plug-in that loads USGS digital elevation models in SDTS or DTED format. SDTS DEMs are available free from the USGS via a commercial server, which has coverage of most of the United States at 30m resolution. You can control the level of detail of your terrain, as a regular grid, or as a TIN. Nverse Terra terrain can be used for the ground surface in Nverse Photo 2.7.
